Abstract:
A fixed type constant velocity universal joint 1, 11, 12 is provided with a retainer 5, 51, 52 for retaining torque transmission balls 4, 41, 42 in the pockets 5a, 5a1, 5a2 thereof and having a spherical outer peripheral surface 10, 101, 102 and a spherical inner peripheral surface 11, 111, 112,which respectively fit to the spherical inner peripheral surface 8, 81, 82 of an outer joint member 2, 21, 22 and the spherical outer peripheral surface 9, 91, 92 of an inner joint member 3, 31, 32. The center A, A1, A2 of curvature of a curved track groove 6, 61, 62 in the outer joint member 2, 21, 22 andthe center B, B1, B2 of curvature of a curved track groove 7, 71, 72 in the inner joint member 3, 31, 32 are offset the same distance f1, f2, f3 to positions on the axially opposite sides of the center O of the joint. The fixed type constant velocity universal joint 1, 11, 12 is characterized in that the initial pocket gap between each of the torque transmission balls 4, 41, 42 and apocket 5a, 5a1, 5a2 in the retainer 5, 51, 52 is a positive gap in a ball movement region at a regular angle, and is a negative gap in the region other than the ball movement region at the regular angle.
