Technical Field

The invention relates to a combination that allows for assembling and detaching furniture items with/from a variety of casual household and workplace articles like drawers, wall shelves, bookcases, wooden crates, closets etc. by means of pins, while holding all parts in balance and strong enough to maintain their horizontal or vertical integrity throughout the process.

Current State of the Art

For a long time, furniture fixing practice employed traditional methods that involve the nailing of parts intertwined, or bonding them together by means of adhesives or assembling with the use of bolts and screws. Whenever the requirement arises for handling or dismantling any or group of parts for reuse in a variant design, such procedures as nailing, bonding or screwing are performed, which recurrently, entail to problems with rejoining thereof and damage the final production. Nowadays, the current trend amongst manufacturers and customers is increasingly towards new and alternative furniture fixing and assembling apparatuses, designed for ensuring a sound and balanced embodiment of furniture items as desired.

The present invention relates to a system and method of a furniture fixing and assembling apparatus that, in addition to fulfilling the above requirements, totally removes all predictable disadvantages and drawbacks, while bringing certain additional advantages, in implementation.

The first and foremost objective of the invention is to prevent damage coming to parts of furniture items in time of a removal / refitting procedure of the fixing / assembling apparatus.

Another purpose of the invention is to present and provide a delicate fixing and assembling procedure for customers to follow with discrete ease and comfort by simply adapting and mounting a furniture fixing and assembling apparatus, of the type forming the subject of this invention in its preferred embodiment to the furniture, in both vertical and horizontal directions.

A further purpose of the invention is to allow for locating the assembling apparatus fitting positions on parts to be used for assembling the furniture quite easily and ensure that the dowel pin, used as the insertion pin, easily connects together the two opposing apertures on all rows of the shelf pieces.

A further purpose of the invention is to allow for manufacturing the fixing and assembling apparatus inserts to be placed on parts used to assemble furnitures of metal and thereby lowering costs of production.

Another purpose of the invention is to avoid any potential doubt or conflicts as may occur in time of assembling procedures by providing identical right or left-hand sides in a raw of opposing mounting pieces placed on furniture to be assembled using the apparatus. A further purpose of the invention is to allow for holding the entire body of furniture together and intact throughout the fixing / assembling procedure, by preventing furniture to fall apart by tightening either of the two identical parts of the pin used to fit the assembling apparatus on furniture body parts. Another purpose of the invention is to allow for providing a fixing and assembling apparatus that is suitable for use on any wooden surfaces, independent of the size, dimensions and type of furniture on which it is intended to be mounted, be it a bookcase, a shelf or any other item of furniture. Another purpose of the invention is to prevent accidental exertion of additional load on support posts that bear the bookcase, closet, drawer or shelves, as appropriate, thanks to the plastic material used in manufacture of the furniture fixing and assembling apparatus.

A further purpose of the invention is to allow for providing additional load bearing capacity of the furniture part under treatment, by means of the rectangular design of the furniture assembling apparatus with two long arms, to cover a broader area.

Description of the Invention in Detail

This section describes the furniture fixing and assembling apparatus in its preferred embodiment and the system and method in which it is designed, in such a manner that guarantees a better insight to the concept, while avoiding to impose any limiting, restraining effect upon the readers. The fixing and assembling apparatus for furniture, which forms the subject of the invention consists of the apparatus itself (1 ), a screw hole (2) to hold apparatus fixing screws to be inserted on furniture surfaces by means of pins (4), a fixing pin protuberance that ensures fitting of parts to one another properly (3) and a pin (4) that passes in-through and interlocks the parts together. The apparatus consists of two identical parts.

The screw hole (2) ensures that the fixing and assembling apparatus for furniture (1 ) is mounted on items of furniture, using screws. These holes are supplied in at least one pair. When dismantling of furniture items becomes of requirement, the pin (4) is removed to conveniently handle and finish the process, all at once.
