Abstract:
Provided is a fixing device in which a recording medium conveyed with a leading end thereof held such that a recording surface onto which an image has been transferred faces upward is heated from above by a preliminary heating unit without being brought into contact therewith. A detection unit is arranged on the upstream side of the preliminary heating unit in the direction of conveyance and detects the conveyance orientation of the recording medium. A control unit uses the detection result of the detection unit as a basis to control a blowing unit and adjusts the amount of air blown onto the recording medium.
