Description:
A FIXTURE FOR MOUNTING A FIRST PANEL ON A SECOND PANEL

FIELD

The present disclosure relates to the field of fixtures. BACKGROUND Conventionally, a panel is mounted on another panel or floor using fasteners or an iron angle. The iron angle is typically an L-shaped fixture which is connected to both the panel and the floor. The iron angle is then fastened to the first panel and the second panel or the floor using fasteners. However, sufficient space is required for the installation of the iron angle. Further, installation of the iron angle consumes more time as multiple fasteners are required to be fastened.

Therefore, there is felt a need of a fixture that alleviates the abovementioned drawbacks. OBJECTS

Some of the objects of the present disclosure, which at least one embodiment herein satisfies, are as follows: An object of the present disclosure is to provide a fixture that has simple configuration.

Another object of the present disclosure is to provide a fixture that is easy to manufacture, and requires less time to install.

Yet another object of the present disclosure is to provide a fixture that can be operated in compact space. Yet another object of the present disclosure is to provide a fixture that is easy to access.

Other objects and advantages of the present disclosure will be more apparent from the following description, which is not intended to limit the scope of the present disclosure.

SUMMARY

The present disclosure envisages a fixture for mounting a first panel on a second panel. The fixture comprises a body and a connecting member. The body has at least one elongated slot configured thereon. The elongated slot receives at least one fastener. The body is configured to be fitted on the first panel. The body is fitted using the fastener. The body is configured to slide along the elongated slot when a predetermined force is applied on the body. The connecting member extends from the body, and is configured to be received in a hole configured on the second panel.

In an embodiment, the elongated slot has a rectangular shape having semi-circular ends

In an embodiment, two slots are configured on the body.

In another embodiment, the connecting member is welded to the body. In yet another embodiment, the connecting member is made integral with the body by a casting process or a forging process.

The present disclosure envisages a fixture for mounting a first panel on the second panel. The fixture requires less time to install and can be operated in compact space.

The fixture, of the present disclosure, is now described with reference to figure 1 through figure 5. Figure 1 illustrates an isometric view of a fixture (100). Figure 2 illustrates a front view of the fixture (100). Figure 3 illustrates a top view of the fixture (100). Figure 4 illustrates a side view of the fixture (100). Figure 5 illustrates an isometric view a first panel (50) mounted on a second panel (60) using the fixture (100) of the present disclosure.

The fixture (100) comprises a body (105) and a connecting member (120). At least one elongated slot (110) is configured on the body (105). The elongated slot (110) is configured to receive at least one fastener (125). The elongated slot (110) is configured to provide play to the fastener (125) disposed therein. The size and shape of the elongated slot (110) is such that the body (105) can slide operative upward or downward when a predetermined force is applied thereon in an upward or downward direction respectively. In an embodiment, the elongated slot (110) is configured to accommodate a plurality of fasteners therein.

In an embodiment, two elongated slots (110), (115) are configured on the body (105). The configuration of the elongated slot (115) is same as that of the elongated slot (110).

The body (105) is configured to be fitted on the first panel (50). The body (105) of the fixture (100) is fastened on the first panel (50) using the fasteners (125, 126). The connecting member (120) extends from the body (105). Further, the connecting member (120) is configured to be received in a hole (65) configured on the second panel (60) on which the first panel (50) needs to be mounted.

The connecting member (120) is connected to the body (105). In an embodiment, the connecting member (120) is welded to the body (105). In another embodiment, the connecting member (120) is made integral with the body (105) by a casting process or a forging process.

The shape and size of the connecting member (120) are determined as per the application and the strength requirements. In an embodiment, the connecting member (120) is a cylindrical rod.

The fixture (100) is made of any suitable material having required strength as per the application requirements. In an embodiment, the fixture (100) is of a material selected from the group consisting of metallic materials, non-metallic materials, composites, and any combinations thereof. In an exemplary embodiment, the fixture (100) is made of stainless steel.

In an operative configuration, the fixture (100) is fitted on an operative side surface of the first panel (50) which needs to be mounted on the second panel (60). The fixture (100) is fitted using fasteners (125, 126). The fasteners (125), (126) pass through the slots (110, 115), and are inserted in the operative side surface of the first panel (50) to facilitate secure fitment of the fixture (100). A hole (65) is configured on the second panel (60) such that the connecting member (120) registers with the hole (65) when the first panel (50) is mounted on the second panel (60). The first panel (50) is then mounted on the second panel (60) such that the connecting member (120) is received in the hole (65) or is proximal to the hole (65). The connecting member (120) is then firmly inserted in the hole (65) by hammering an operative top side of the fixture (100) with a hammer or similar objects. The play provided in the slots (110, 115) facilitates the fixture (100) to slide downward about the fastener, thereby securely fitting the connecting member (120) within the hole (65).

Although the present disclosure is described with reference to mounting of a panel on another panel, the mounting of the panel on floor or structure using the fixture of the present disclosure is well within the scope and ambit of the present disclosure. The fixture, of the present disclosure has a simple configuration, and is easy to manufacture and operate. Further, the fixture can be installed in less time as very few fasteners are required to fasten the fixture with the first panel.
