Abstract:
A flail chain adapter link, constructed for engagement of a flail chain having a plurality of chain links to a debarking drum. The flail chain adapter link is preferably a sinuous length of metal material having first and second tail portions and a closed end portion, wherein the first tail portion includes a first generally U-shaped section, the closed end portion includes a second generally U-shaped section and the second tail portion includes a third generally U-shaped section, and wherein the second generally U-shaped section is interconnected with the first generally U-shaped section by a first intermediate section and the second generally U-shaped section is interconnected with the third generally U-shaped section by a second intermediate section. The respective tail portions preferably include an extended end section interconnected with the respective first or third generally U-shaped section and the respective intermediate sections to form a generally J-shaped hook that extends away from opposite ends of the second generally U-shaped section. Methods of debarking logs and of connecting a flail chain to a debarking drum are disclosed.
