Abstract:
Provided are mesoporous particles that are 0.1 to 3 µm thick, exhibit flake-like shapes when in a single layer, and have a mean pore diameter of 10 nm or greater. Said particles can be obtained by means of a manufacturing method wherein: a metal-oxide sol that has a pH of 7 or higher and comprises metal-oxide colloidal particles dispersed in water is fed into a liquid containing a water-miscible solvent that has a relative permittivity at 20°C of 30 or lower if said solvent is protic and 40 or lower otherwise; a flake-like aggregate of the metal-oxide colloidal particles is produced in said liquid; and said aggregate is dried and processed, using heat or the like, into water-insoluble flake-like particles.
