Description:
A FLAME RESISTANT FLEXIBLE BARRIER

Technical Field

The invention relates to flexible barriers provided with flame resistance and flame retardant properties, which are used in most sectors and living areas.

Prior Art

Flexible barriers used in the state of the art are very important for work-worker safety and the prevention of factory-facility fire accidents. A safety barrier is produced to prevent possible accidents. Due to its flexible structure against impacts, it is highly durable and can maintain its form without any breakage. But at the same time, they are inflammable due to the raw material from which they are produced. Due to the raw material of the flexible barriers used, their flame resistance is quite low. Since flexible barriers are based on plastic, they can catch fire at high temperatures. This causes work accidents in the area where they are used. Using them in living spaces can also cause many accidents.

Flexible barriers are produced on the basis of polymers and have the said flexibility. But for this reason, they are easily inflammable. Although most of the work accidents are prevented, there is no precaution against fire.

In order to eliminate the disadvantages listed in the state of the art, new systems need to be developed.

Brief Description of the Invention

The object of the invention is to produce flexible barriers with increased flame resistance in order to prevent the danger of fire in places where flexible barriers are used. Detailed Description of the Invention

The subject of the invention relates to a flame resistant flexible barrier containing 95-85% by weight polyethylene and 5-15% by weight flame retardant additives. It contains an aliphatic and/or aromatic bromine based flame retardant additive between 5-15% by weight in order to increase the melting temperature to 800-1000°C. It is aimed to provide self-extinguishing properties in extrusion and injection molding applications in polyolefins.

Thanks to the properties of the raw material components, the flame retardancy and flame resistance of the flexible barrier of the present invention increase. In case the flexible barrier is exposed to and is in contact with flame or heat, it will be able to provide resistance against this situation due to the feature it has gained thanks to the invention.

Thanks to the content of the barrier of the present invention, in case of contact with flame and heat where it is used, it will provide resistance and reduce the risk of fire. The product of the present invention provides superiority over the products in the market in terms of both the progression of the fire and the fact that the barrier remains in use without deteriorating its geometry.

The melting temperature of polyethylene, which is the main component of said barrier, is approximately 200°C. The barrier made of polyethylene increases the melting temperature up to 200°C. In manufacturing, the melting temperature is increased to 800-1000°C by adding a flame retardant additive between 5 and 15% to the polyethylene mixture, which is the main component of the product. At the same time, aliphatic and aromatic bromine additives are also included in the raw material content of the flexible barrier.

Thanks to the flame retardants included in the invention, it prevents the plastic barriers from igniting at low temperatures and from advancing even if a flame occurs. Flame retardants prevent plastics from igniting at low temperatures and from progressing even if a flame occurs.

Industrial Applicability of the Invention

The invention is flexible barriers with heat-resistant raw material content, which makes flexible barriers used in most living spaces resistant to flame, and is industrially applicable. The invention is not limited to the above exemplary embodiments and a person skilled in the art can easily reveal other different embodiments of the invention. These should be considered within the scope of the protection claimed by the claims of the invention.
