Abstract:
A flame retardant grease composition which comprises at least one thickening agent selected from the group consisting of metal soap-based thickening agents and urea-based thickening agents, a base oil consisting of a mineral oil that exhibits a kinematic viscosity of 300 to 1000mm2/s at 40°C, and a sulfur-based load-carrying additive that contains neither metal nor phosphorus, said load-carrying additive containing a sulfurized olefin as the essential component.
The flame retardant grease composition has a higher ignition temperature than that of a conventional grease composition, and exhibits improved load-carrying properties and self -extinguishing properties, thus reducing the risk of fire in ironmaking facilities or the like.
