Abstract:
Disclosed is a flat display which comprises a pair of glass substrates arranged
opposite to each other with a space therebetween and containing silicon as a component,
and a sealing member arranged in the peripheral portions of the pair of glass substrates.
The sealing member is composed of a material which contains bismuth as a component,
and a protection layer or an insulating layer, which serves as an intermediate
layer and is composed of a material whose silicon content is lower than that of
the glass substrates, is arranged at the joint interface between the glass substrates
and the sealing member. Consequently, there can be provided a flat display which
is high in strength at the sealed portion and excellent in reliability.
