Abstract:
A vacuum enclosure (10) of a flat face-type display device has a back face substrate (11) and a front face substrate (12) that are oppositely arranged, and a seal portion (13) sealing together the peripheral portions of the front face substrate (12) and back face substrate (11). On the outside of at least part of the seal portion (13) is a reinforcement portion (20) having a core material (22) harder than the seal portion (13). Providing the reinforcement portion (20) enables an external force acting on the peripheral portions of the substrates to be received by the reinforcement portion (20), so that an external force acting on the seal portion (13) is drastically reduced. Thus a shift and degrading in sealing ability of the seal portion (13) can be prevented from occurring even when an external force is applied.
