Abstract:
A flat panel display device is comprised of a first substrate (11) with a phosphor layer provided on its inner surface, a second substrate provided opposite to the first substrate with a prescribed gap and also provided with a plurality of electron discharging sources to excite the phosphor layer, and a spacer provided between the first substrate (11) and the second substrate. Uneven members are formed on the surface of at least portions in the first substrate where the phosphor layer is provided, wherein the surface roughness (Ra) ranges from 0.3 μm to 10 μm. This structure can provide a flat panel display device and its manufacturing method with improved brightness and excellent display dignity without the introduction of any special manufacturing steps and without any influence over the phosphor life.
