Title:
FLEXIBLE POLYURETHANE FOAM AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING THE SAME
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1996/005238
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A flexible polyurethane foam produced by the reaction of an isocyanate compound with (a) molasses and (b) a polyol component having an average molecular weight of 600 to 6,000; a process for producing the foam; and a molasses/polyol composition to be used for producing a biodegradable flexible polyurethane foam. This foam has a flexibility similar to that of conventional flexible polyurethane foams in spite of the incorporation of molasses therein and is so excellent in biodegradability that it can be rapidly degraded in the natural environment. Since this foam has properties similar to those of conventional flexible polyurethane foams and can be spontaneously biodegraded after the use, it can be widely used not only as agricultural and horticultural materials but also in household and industrial fields.
