Abstract:
This flexible tube insertion device (10) is provided with: a flexible tube (24c) to be inserted in a target tube path; a stiffness control system (80) that controls the stiffness of each portion of the flexible tube; a buckling detection system (110) that detects the generation of buckling in the flexible tube; a pulling operation detection system (140) which detects that a pulling operation for releasing the buckling has been performed on the flexible tube after the buckling detection system detected the generation of the buckling; and a storage device (112) that stores position information of a high stiffness portion which is a portion of the flexible tube that is adjacent to at least the buckling portion of the flexible tube and is positioned closer to the tip side than the buckling portion. The stiffness control system enhances the stiffness of the high stiffness portion on the basis of the position information stored in the storage device when the pulling operation detection system detects the pulling operation.
