Title:
FLIPPERS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2004/064943
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A flipper (10) for assisting a person whilst swimming is disclosed. The flipper comprises a flexible sheath (12) that is arranged to accommodate the front half of the foot of the person and a blade (20) extending from the sheath. Significantly, the blade includes a plurality of adjacent conduits (22A-D) each conduit comprising an inlet (24) through which water can enter the conduit, and an outlet (26) through which water can exit the conduit. In use, as he person is swimming, water flows through the conduits in a direction opposite to that of the person swimming, thereby contributing to the forward motion of the person.
