Abstract:
In treating oily sewage pooled in a grease trap (2), a float for treating oily sewage (1),
which has a housing (15) made of a natural air-permeable material and a microorganism carrier
(12) packed in the housing and made of a porous material carrying an aerobic bacterium
and an anaerobic bacterium, is floated on the water surface in such a manner as
to form an air-contact face wherein the float is in contact with the outside air.
Thus, an aerobic environment is provided in the housing at least by the outside
air incorporated via the air-contact face and the microorganism carrier and
the decomposition of the oily sewage is promoted by the aerobic bacterium based
on the aerobic environment thus established. Owing to the decomposition by the
aerobic bacterium, an anaerobic environment is provided in the housing and then
the decomposition of the oily sewage is promoted by the anaerobic bacterium based
on the anaerobic environment thus established.
