Title:
FLOATING OR FIXED BREAKWATER
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2011/122779
Kind Code:
A2
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a floating or fixed breakwater. A news article about a city council-planned artificial island to be built in Han River in Seoul, Korea, has given the applicant an idea of making a floating breakwater and installing a gigantic artificial island in the sea instead of a river to expand the applicability. A float may be produced by preparing a plurality of tunnels with a rugged inner area filled with tire materials and so on, and then stacking and binding a number of the tunnels in a pyramid shape. Short-length steel materials are welded in four columns to make a floating structure that is 6m wide and 7m long. The pyramid-shaped architecture is fixed to the floating structure with, for example, aluminum, and the floats are inserted therein and properly tied up with a wire rope-anchor rope, respectively. Another model illustrated in FIG. 4 (e) or (d) is placed in the front and back, and both sides of the floating structure, while keeping the weight in balance. Four round and flat stones, each weighing 2,000 kg, are put into the sea in the zigzag form and locked in place by pulling them. Once the four stones are immobilized, they are tied up like a cord bundle and bound to the floating structure, making an allowance for high tides. With a thick rubber cord, the floating structures are tied in short and long lengths to the corresponding cord bundles in one-to-one correspondence to enable a long-distance control. As the breakwater floats in the sea, a variety of applications may be available at a low cost.
