Abstract:
The present invention relates to a floor washing-drying machine comprising a scraping device provided with a long operating life scraping blade. In particular, the scraping blade has been designed in order to ensure a long operating life without losing its operating efficiency. Such purpose is achieved by means of at least one cut (83) formed on the two faces (81, 82) of the blade apt to form a weakened line facilitating the tear of a portion (87) of said blade when its scraping edges (86) are worn out.

Claims:
CLAIMS

1. Floor washing-drying machine (1 ) comprising a scrapping device (2) provided with a support (3) onto which at least one scrapping blade (8) is reversibly mounted, said at least one blade having a first face (81 ) and a second face (82) opposed to said first face and two longitudinal sides (85) each provided with two sharpened- scrapping edges (86), characterized in that said scrapping blade (8) comprises at least one cut (83) provided on each of said first (81 ) and second (82) faces to form a weakened line facilitating the tear of a working portion (87) of said blade when said sharpened-scrapping edge (86) are worn.

2. Floor washing-drying machine (1 ) according to claim 1 , wherein said blade (8) has a shape of a rectangular regular strip, longitudinally elongated.

3. Floor washing-drying machine (1 ) according to claim 1 or 2, comprising two cuts (82) onto each of said first (81 ) and second (82) faces close to each of said longitudinal sides (85).

4. Floor washing-drying machine (1 ) according to any one of claims 1 to 3, wherein said cuts (83) are symmetric one to the other and extend without interruptions along the entire length of the blade (8).

5. Floor washing-drying machine (1 ) according to any one of claims 1 to 3, wherein said cuts (83) are isolated-longitudinally aligned punchings or through holes of the material of the blade interrupted by whole material.

6. Floor washing-drying machine (1 ) according to any one of claims 1 to 5, wherein said at least one blade (8) is made by a soft plastic material.

7. Floor washing-drying machine (1 ) according to claim 6, wherein said plastic material is natural or synthetic rubber.

8. Floor washing-drying machine (1 ) according to claim 7, wherein said synthetic rubber is selected from polyurethane and closed-cell EVA.

9. Floor washing-drying machine (1 ) according to any one of claims 1 to 8, comprising a first collecting blade (4) for the washing liquid mounted onto said support (3) parallel to a second scrapping blade (8), as defined in the preceding claims, to delimit a suction chamber of said washing liquid.

10. Floor washing-drying machine (1 ) according to any one of the preceding claims with or without a person on board.

FLOOR -CLEANING MACHINE HAVING A LONGLIFE SCRAPPING BLADE

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[001 ] The present invention relates to a floor washing-drying machine comprising a scraping device provided with a long operating life scraping blade. In particular, the scraping blade has been designed to ensure a long operating life without losing its operating efficiency.

PRIOR ART TECHNIQUE

[002] Conventionally, floor washing-drying machines comprise, fundamentally, two operating units: a head provided with brushes and with adduction of washing liquid for washing and a scraping blade connected to a suction system for the water collection and for the floor drying.

[003] In particular the scraping device is a device which scrapes the floor following the machine collecting the washing liquid by means of at least a blade mounted on a suitable support. The blade is a strip of natural or synthetic rubber material which is pressed against the floor surface so as to scrape it in order to obtain the wiping effect.

[004] Preferably the blades are two, curved and parallel spaced so as to form a suction chamber. In fact, the front blade is more rigid and thinner than the rear blade with respect to the cleaning direction and it collects and conveys the washing liquid into the suction chamber. On the contrary, the rear blade is thicker and softer as it has to perform the real wiping function, that is the drying function. Actually, that blade, thanks to its softness and elasticity, bends so that its longitudinal sharpened edge scrapes the surface in an optimal way. In other words, the blade performs its function at its best when operating on a blade- like edge.

[005] Therefore, it is obvious that this rear blade is subjected to a high abrasion just due to the friction against the floor surface which causes its more or less premature wearing depending on the floor roughness and on the softness of the rubber material. In any case, evidently the wearing also causes a loss of efficiency, that is the correct drying is not achieved. It results in a limitation of the operating life.

[006] In order to overcome such inconvenience, the rear blade is made into a rectangular and symmetrical shape, that is with four longitudinal sharpened edges. In this way the user has the possibility first of rotating it on the floor surface and then of turning it again upside down utilizing all four edges. [007] However, this solution does not satisfactorily solve the inconvenience since the wearing of the four edges even of few millimetres compels to replace the entire blade. It is obvious therefore, that, on one hand, the blades have to be frequently replaced with a fixed cost for spare parts and on the other hand, a lot of material is wasted.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[008] The technical problem at the basis of the present invention is, therefore, that of providing a way to exploit each blade material as much as possible without the necessity of wasting material which is no longer efficient, therefore lowering fixed costs.

[009] Such problem is solved by a rear blade provided with a structure such as to make it possible to renew the operating edges much more times than the conventional blades before throwing them away.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0011] In figure 1 , the reference number 1 generally shows a floor washing-drying machine with a person on board according to the known technique. This machine, in particular, comprises a scraping device 2 placed behind with respect to the forward running direction of the machine itself. The scraping device 2, better shown in an exploded view in figure 2, conventionally comprises a support 3 onto which at least a scraping blade is mounted in a reversible way. Preferably, as in the example of the embodiment shown, the scraping blades are two: a first scraping blade 4 mounted in front with respect to the forward running direction and a second scraping blade 5 mounted behind with respect to the forward running direction of the machine 1 . The first scraping blade 4 and the second one 5 are curved strips with the concavity facing the forward running direction and removably held fixed to the support by means of fixing means comprising first and second bars 6 and 7, respectively. The bars are conventionally anchored to the support and the support connected, in its turn, to the machine 1 according to the known technique, so it will not be further described.

[0012] In particular, the first scraping blade 4 has the function of collecting the washing liquid, it is usually made of rigid plastic material and is provided with openings to let the liquid flow into a suction chamber delimited by the space between the first and the second scraping blade.

[0013] As shown in figure 3A, the second scraping blade 5 is normally the scraping blade which has the function of wiping the floor and, therefore, has the shape of a rectangular elongated strip and provided with a series of through holes 51 for the fixing to the support 3 and with two longitudinal edges 52 corresponding to the long sides of the rectangular shape.

[0014] In the side view in figure 3B, the second scraping blade 5 has four edges 53, two for each of the two longitudinal edges 52. Consequently, the scraping blade can use, as previously explained, these four edges as four blades in order to scrape the floor in an effective way.

[0015] According to the present invention, the second scraping blade 8, shown in figures 4A and 4B, is generally similar to the second scraping blade 5 of the known technique. In fact, it shows a shape of an elongated rectangular regular strip, with a first face 81 and a second face 82 opposed to the first one and two longitudinal sides 85 each provided with two scraping edges 86. Advantageously, at least one cut 83 is provided on each of said first 81 and second 82 faces parallel with respect to the sides 85 and lying on the same plane. The cuts 83 are symmetric one to the other and preferably extend without interruptions along the entire length of the blade 8 identifying a first end or working portion 87 of the same blade. [0016] In particular, the cuts 83 have a depth such as to leave intact a central portion 84 of the thickness of the blade 8. In this way, it is formed a weakened line along the entire blade on both faces. The weakened line facilitates the removal of a portion of the blade itself (figure 5). This operation is very advantageous because when the edges 86 are worn, it is enough to pull, to tear the end portion 87 with respect to the remaining part of the blade 8 in order to have two new edges 86 ready for use, as better shown in figure 6.

[0017] Preferably, the cuts 83 are more than one for each face of the blade, more preferably they are two or three. Advantageously, a plurality of cuts enables to multiply the new edges available. Obviously, the number of cuts and of the corresponding end portions are defined depending on the height of the blade and considering the holes 89 for the mounting on the support. For example, with reference to figures 4A, 4B and 5, the cuts 83 are two for each face and define a first working portion 87and a second working portion 88 for both sides 85 of the blade 8 for a total of twelve scraping edges 86.

[0018] From what described so far, it is apparent that the scraping blade can be exploited in the most convenient way, reducing waste and lowering the costs for spare parts. As a consequence, the environmental impact is highly reduced.

[0019] Further, with a simple working operation, that is the cut, it is possible to provide a conventional blade for the object of the invention. Therefore, also production costs do not undergo substantial increases, primarily considering the above mentioned benefits.

[0020] A great number of changes to the floor washing-drying machine of the invention comprising the long operating life blade can be made by the person skilled in the field without exiting the field of the patent protection as defined in the appended claims.

[0021] For example, the cuts can be made of a series of distinct, aligned punchings which make the blade thickness thinner. In the same way, there can be formed weakened lines facilitating the tear made by through cuts or holes of the rubber material spaced with thinned portions.

[0022] The rubber materials can be natural rubber, caoutchouc, or synthetic rubber, elastomeric polymers such as closed-cell polyurethane, EVA (Ethylene Vinyl Acetate) and similar elastic soft materials.

[0023] The forms of the blades can be modified or varied with respect to the above described example of embodiment depending on specific requirements or preferences, though keeping both the characteristic of the sharpened-scraping edges and of having the possibility of tearing the worn portions from said edges in order to form new ones. [0024] Further, the blades can be mounted also singularly in a scraping device, that is without the first collecting blade 4 to collect the washing liquid.

[0025] The washing-drying machine can be a machine with a person on board, as shown in figure 1 , or without a person on board.
