Abstract:
A floor conveyor has front and rear carriers (6a, 6b, 6c and 6d) which are respectively provided at their central portions with support legs (28) which respectively support the front and rear portions of an automotive body mounting plate (13) above a work floor surface (1), the carriers being adapted to travel along a track (5) directly below the work floor surface by means of travelling rollers (8) which are provided at both front and rear portions of each support leg (28). A floor conveyor for conveying an automotive body is arranged such that the distance $(1,3)$ between the rails (5a) constituting the track (5) is set such as to be beyond at least the range of sideward fluctuations of the position of centroid of an automotive body (M) on the mounting plate (13), and each support leg (28) is mounted at the center of the corresponding carrier by employing a hinge (26) having a length substantially equal to the above-described rail distance in such a manner that the supporting leg (28) is tiltable both forward and backward. Further, vertical shaft guiding rollers (9) which are respectively provided at the front and rear portions of the center of each carrier are guided by a guide groove (11) which is formed between opposing guide plates (10) respectively provided on the upper surfaces of the rails (5a) and has a width smaller than the rail distance, each of the guide plates (10) having a square fitting groove for receiving the travelling rollers (8).
