Abstract:
A flow regulator provided with: a housing having a fluid inlet port, an outlet port and a valve seat positioned in a communicating pathway connecting the two ports; a plunger guide tube bonded to the housing; a plunger having a valve body on the tip and inserted in the plunger guide tube to move freely in the axial direction; a spring means for energizing the plunger in the direction in which the valve body contacts the valve seat; and an electromagnetic means that moves the plunger in the valve-opening direction, in opposition to the spring means. The flow regulator, which is able to restrict hysteresis, satisfies the following conditions: there is a gap between the plunger and the plunger guide tube that is sufficient to prevent any contact between the two when the axis lines of the two coincide, making the sliding resistance to be zero; the valve body is a sphere; either the valve body or the valve seat is obtained from a rigid body and the other from an elastic material; and the spring means is obtained from a compression coil spring that is concentric with the plunger and is stretched between the fixed portion of the plunger guide tube and the movable portion on the plunger side.
