Abstract:
A fluid dynamic bearing device (1) in which the opening at the lower end of the housing (7), which is a cylindrical member, is sealed by a disc-shaped cover member (10). The cover member (10) is formed by punching a metal plate and has a burr (10f) on one edge of the outer circumferential surface (10c). After being formed in the punching process, the cover member (10) is fitted into the space in the lower end opening of the housing (7) with the burr (10f) facing outward. The cover member (10) is fixed to the lower end of the housing (7) and the lower end opening of the housing (7) is sealed by plastically deforming the lower end of the housing (7) towards the inner diameter while enfolding the burr (10f).
