Abstract:
A torque converter has a pump shell (33) forming an internal space for holding
ATF and rotatable about the rotation axis of the pump shell, a blade engaged with
the pump shell (33), and an extension sleeve (70) for pressing the blade against
the pump shell (33). A groove (133) to which the forward end portion (31a) of the
blade is fitted is formed in the inner peripheral surface of the pump shell (33).
With the forward end portion (31a) fitted to the groove (133), the extension
sleeve (70) presses the blade to fix the blade to the pump shell (33). The groove
(133) has an acute angle θ to a shell meridian (1000) extending through
the groove (133). The groove (133) extends in one direction, and is opened at
one end (133a) and closed at the other end (133b). The width of the groove at the
one end (133a) is larger than that at the other end. At the narrowest portion of
the groove (133), its width is equal to the width of the end portion (31a).
