Abstract:
A fluorescent lamp (10) comprises a light emitting tube (1) having one electrode
at each end, and a housing (7) having a holding portion (2) for holding the opposite
ends of the light emitting tube (1) and a base portion (3) for supplying power to
the electrode. The holding portion is made of a metal and relatively inexpensive.
Since the holding portion has sufficient heat resistance, the fluorescent lamp
can be miniaturized as compared with conventional ones. Furthermore, the holding
portion has a surface subjected to an insulation treatment, and thus the risk
of electric shock is reduced. For example, the holding portion is made of aluminum
and has a surface subjected to an alumite treatment.
