Abstract:
Provided is a fluorescent wheel in which varying the concentration of a luminescence center element of fluorescent bodies in sections with high density of and sections with low density of excitation light energy can suppress a drop in luminous efficiency. A disc-shaped fluorescent wheel 100 having an area that receives excitation light and emits fluorescence comprises: a wheel substrate 110; a first fluorescent layer 131 that is positioned on the wheel substrate 110 and includes fluorescent bodies 121 having a prescribed concentration of a luminescence center element; and a second fluorescent layer 132 that is positioned on the wheel substrate 110 and includes fluorescent bodies 122 having a different concentration of the luminescence center element than the fluorescent bodies 121 included in the first fluorescent layer 131. The first fluorescent layer 131 and the second fluorescent layer 132 are positioned to be adjacent or partially overlapping, and the boundary between the fluorescent layer surfaces of the first fluorescent layer 131 and the second fluorescent layer 132 is at least a part of a circumference.
