Abstract:
[PROBLEMS] To provide a fluorescent whiteness enhancer which, when used in combination with a florescent brightener, can significantly improve fluorescent whiteness and whiteness. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] The fluorescent whiteness enhancer, which is for use in combination with a fluorescent brightener, is characterized by comprising a urethane polymer (UC) comprising polyoxyalkylene compound units (A) and isocyanate units (B) as essential structural units. In the units (A), the amount of oxyethylene units preferably is at least 60 wt.% of the amount of all oxyalkylene units. Preferably, the units (A) have a structure capable of being obtained by the reaction of an alcohol, phenol, amine, or amide with a C2-4 alkylene oxide and have a weight-average molecular weight of 200 to 30,000.
