Abstract:
Disclosed is a fluorinated elastomer for the molding of a fuel line component, which is produced by the copolymerization in the presence of a iodinated bromine compound represented by the general formula: RBrnIm [wherein R represents a fluorohydrocarbon group, a chlorofluorohydrocarbon group or a hydrocarbon group each having 1 to 10 carbon atoms; and n and m independently represent a number of 1 or 2], which has a copolymerization composition comprising 10 to 40 mol% of tetrafluoroethylene (TFE), 80 to 30 mol% of vinylidene fluoride (VdF) and 10 to 30 mol% of hexafluoropropylene (HFP), which has an intrinsic viscosity of 20 to 180 ml/g, which has a [Mw (weight average molecular weight)/Mn (number average molecular weight)] ratio of 2 to 20, and which has a mono-peak-type or multi-peak-type molecular weight distribution. Also disclosed is a fluorinated elastomer composition comprising the fluorinated elastomer, at least one of a polyol vulcanizing agent and a polyamide vulcanizing agent, an organic peroxide, and multifunctional unsaturated compound. The composition can be suitably used for the molding of a fuel line component and enables to provide a fluorinated elastomer molded article excellent in a molding property, a vulcanizing property, chemical resistance, optical stability and economical efficiency.
