Disclosed is a fluorine-containing copolymer solution for coating materials which has a high solid content and is dissolved in a weak solvent. This fluorine-containing copolymer solution enables to form a coating film having a high hardness. Specifically disclosed is a fluorine-containing copolymer solution containing a fluorine-containing copolymer and a weak solvent, which is characterized by containing 73-90% by mass of the fluorine-containing copolymer. The fluorine-containing copolymer is a copolymer of a fluoroolefin having two or more fluorine atoms and a double bond-containing monomer which is copolymerizable with the fluoroolefin, wherein 10-30 mol% of the double bond-containing monomer has a hydroxyl group while 20-80 mol% thereof has a branched alkyl group having three or more carbon atoms. The fluorine-containing copolymer has a fluorine content of not less than 10% by mass and a hydroxyl number of 43-60 mgKOH/g.
