A fluorine-containing ether compound characterized by being represented by formula (1). R1–R2–CH2–R3–CH2–R4–R5 (1) (In formula (1), R3 indicates a perfluoropolyether chain. R2 and R4 indicate a divalent linking group having a polar group and may be the same or different. R1 and R5 are bonded to a linking bond for an atom other than a carbon atom in R2 or R4. R1 and R5 are terminal groups comprising a C1–8 organic group and may be the same or different. At least one among R1 and R5 is a group in which at least one hydrogen in a C1–8 chain organic group is substituted by a group having an amide bond.)
