Abstract:

A process for the production of a compound having a primary, secondary or tertiary aminomethyl-aromatic ring, characterized in that a fluoroboron compound represented by the formula (I): Ra(Rb)N-CH2-BF3M (I) or a dimmer thereof or a solvate of the fluoroboron compound or the dimmer is used as an aminomethylating agent for an aromatic ring and the aminomethylating agent is reacted with a compound having an aromatic ring reactive with the aminomethylating agent in the presence of a metal catalyst such as a palladium compound to thereby achieve the direct aminomethylation of the aromatic ring.
