Title:
FLYWHEEL HAVING AN OFFSET CENTER OF MASS WITH RESPECT TO THE AXIS OF ROTATION.
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO2003052289
Kind Code:
A8
Abstract:
The invention relates to mechanical and electrical engineering. The inventive flywheel (1) having a center of mass offset with respect to the axis of rotation thereof is used for the shafts of piston engines and electric motors in order to increase the power thereof. The shape of the flywheel is formed by the rotation symmetrical with respect to the axis of rotation and an axis perpendicular to the axis of rotation of a geometrical figure which rotates thereabout. The shape of said flywheel is divided by a plane arranged at an angle which is higher than forty five degrees and less than ninety degrees with respect to the axis of rotation. Said two parts (2 and 3), for example have equal volumes and oriented to each other around the axis of rotation at an angle which is equal to or less than ninety degrees. The thus embodied flywheel being fixed to the shaft and rotatable, is devoid of deleterious transversal mechanical vibrations and substantially reduces longitudinal mechanical vibrations in comparison with a known flywheel.
