Abstract:
[Problem] To provide foam fibers as a down substitute. [Solution] The foam fibers comprise an olefin resin-containing thermoplastic resin composition and do not have a cut surface in the longitudinal direction of the fiber. The maximum diameter of width direction cross-sections of the foam fiber is 3 mm or less, per-area weight is 1.0-120 g/m, and down power measured by the following method is at least 100 cm3/g. The down power measurement method comprises the following steps: allow 30 g of foam fiber to fall naturally into a cylindrical container of 29 cm internal diameter and 60 cm height; place a 94.3 g disc thereon; after two minutes have elapsed, measure the height from inside the bottom surface of the container (surface of the bottom surface of the container) to the inside of the disc and calculate the volume of the foam fiber; and determine the volume per 1 g from said volume and the mass of the foam fiber.
