Abstract:
A foam fire−extinguisher free from environmentally harmful fluorosurfactants, which contains a forming synthetic surfactant composed of (a) a polyoxyethylene alkyl sulfate salt and (b) at least one member selected from among lauramidopropyl− dimethylammonioacetate betaine and lauramidopropylhydroxy− sulfobetaine. The fire−extinguisher may further contain either (c) a polyoxyalkylenediamine aminoalkylated at the ends or a derivative thereof or (d) a polyoxyethylene coconut oil fatty acid monoethanolamide ester salt, together with (e) dodecyl alcohol. The fire−extinguisher can be diluted with seawater or fresh water and used as high− or low−foaming fire distinguisher. The foam fire−extinguisher is equal or superior to ones of the prior art containing fluorosurfactants in respects of water−holding properties and heat resistance and has such high liquid resistance as to stay on a firing liquid surface for a long time and such excellent fluidity as to cover a firing liquid surface in a short time.
