Abstract:
A focal-plane shutter (1) is provided with: a base plate (100) in which an opening (101) is formed; a front blade (200) and a rear blade (300) that open and close the opening; a front blade driving unit; a rear blade driving unit; a charging unit; a brake member (161); and a brake driving unit (165). The front blade driving unit comprises a first front blade driving member (122) that drives the front blade by means of a first urging force of a first urging member, and a second front blade driving member (123) that drives the front blade by means of a second urging force of a second urging member (124). The rear blade driving unit comprises a rear blade driving member (132) that drives the rear blade by means of a third urging force of a third urging member. The charging unit applies the second urging force to the second urging member, and applies the third urging force to the third urging member. The brake member brakes the front blade by means of friction with a friction member, and the brake driving unit is independent of the front blade driving unit, the rear blade driving unit and the charging unit, and moves the brake member to a position at which the front blade is braked.
