Abstract:
For example, in cases where a defocus amount in a distance measurement area is greater than a distance measurement area determination threshold set in advance, a focus drive control unit 34 of a control unit 30 sets the distance measurement area to a distance measurement size at the time of speed-prioritizing drive, the distance measurement size being a region size set in advance. In cases where the defocus amount is less than or equal to the distance measurement area determination threshold, the focus drive control unit 34 sets the distance measurement area to a subject-prioritizing distance measurement size which is a region size different from the distance measurement size at the time of speed-prioritizing drive; for example, in cases where the image-capturing mode is a mode for capturing an image of a moving subject or where it is detected that the subject is a moving subject, the subject-prioritizing distance measurement size is made larger than the distance measurement size at the time of speed-prioritizing drive, and in cases where the image-capturing mode is a mode for capturing an image of a stationary subject or where it is detected that the subject is a stationary subject, the subject-prioritizing distance measurement size is set to the distance measurement size at the time of speed-prioritizing drive or is made smaller than the distance measurement size at the time of speed-prioritizing drive. Thus, stable focus control can be performed easily.
