Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to reduce the cost of a foil bearing. A foil bearing (10) is provided with a cylindrical outer member (11), a shaft (6) which is inserted in the inner periphery of the outer member (11), and leaves (14) which are disposed at circumferential positions between the inner peripheral surface (11b) of the outer member (11) and the outer peripheral surface (6a) of the shaft (6). A fluid film generated in the radial bearing gap supports the relative rotation between the shaft (6) and the outer member (11). The leaves (14) are each provided with a tip (14a) which forms the free end of the leaf (14), a base end (14b) which forms the affixed end of the leaf (14), and a bearing surface (14c) which is located between the tip (14a) and the base end (14b) and forms the radial bearing gap. The leaves (14) are connected by a connection section (15), and the leaves (14) and the connection section (15) are integrally formed by a single foil member (13).
