Abstract:
Provided is a foil bearing having a sliding layer, which has excellent adhesion to the foil, can reduce start-up torque, and also has excellent durability and the coating thickness of which can be made thick. A bearing surface is configured from a thin flexible foil. A support is provided so that said foil is elastically deformable. As a result of the rotation of a rotating member, a fluid film is formed in the bearing gap between a first bearing surface provided on the foil and a second bearing surface on the rotating member that faces same, and the rotating member is supported by the pressure thereof. The front surface and/or the back surface of the foil has a sliding layer, and the first bearing surface and/or the second bearing surface has a sliding layer. At least the surface and the vicinity thereof in said sliding layers have a cross-linked fluorine resin layer.
