Abstract:

An airbag folding device and an airbag folding method, in which an airbag is mechanically folded to be a doughnut-shaped airbag. The airbag folding device has a circular columnar supporter (62) rising supporting a tubular tether belt (11a), an outer cylinder tube (63) coaxial with the supporter (62) and rising outside the supporter (62) to receive an airbag body (10a), a work table (61) having the supporter (62) and the outer cylinder tube (63), and a circular columnar holder (64) for holding along with the supporter (62) the tubular tether belt (11a) which is held at a position vertically above the supporter (62). The supporter (62), the outer cylinder tube (63), and the holder (64) descend at the same time, with a pair of plates (65) covering the upper part of the outer cylinder tube (63) and fitted to the lower end of the holder (64).
