A pair of cutting blades (11, 11): is lowered by a cutting unit-raising and -lowering mechanism (30) and cuts a cut piece; is moved forward (outward in the radial direction of the cake (CK)) by a cutting unit-moving mechanism (50) to separate the cut piece from the uncut portion of the cake (CK) after the cut piece-cutting; is raised by the cutting unit-raising and -lowering mechanism (30) and retracted above the cake (CK); is moved backward (inward in the radial direction of the cake (CK)) to return the intersection point to the center line (CC) of the cake (CK); and is relatively rotated around the center line (CC) by a cake-rotating mechanism (40) to execute relative circumferential feeding at an equal division intersection angle or twice same. As a result, a food cutting device and a food cutting method are provided, the food cutting device and food cutting method being capable, when equally dividing in the circumferential direction a round or regular polygon-shaped food with a specified thickness and cutting same into multiple fan-shaped or isosceles triangle-shaped cut pieces, of reducing the equipment cost necessary for exchangeable parts, etc. to handle different numbers of cuts and reduce the work time, etc. necessary for part-exchanging work, etc. when changing the number of cuts.
