Abstract:
The objective of the present invention is to provide a foreign body inspecting method for reliably detecting a minute foreign body contained in a film roll obtained by winding in film being conveyed at high speed, including, for example, whether the foreign body is a metallic foreign body. In the foreign body inspecting method according to the present invention for achieving this objective, an optical image capturing unit is used to detect a foreign body on a film being conveyed, immediately before the film is wound onto a film roll, the position of the foreign body on the film, in planar coordinates, is stored in a storage unit, and the position of the foreign body in planar coordinates is converted into the position of the foreign body in spatial coordinates in the film roll after winding. Furthermore, focusing of a radiation image capturing unit such as an X-ray image capturing device is performed, restricted to the spatial coordinates of the foreign body in the resulting film roll, and radiation is radiated by the radiation image capturing unit to detect whether the foreign body in the film roll is metallic.
