Abstract:

This foreign material detection device is provided with: an electromechanical conversion element, which is attached to piping, and performs conversion between electric energy and mechanical energy; and a foreign material detection unit, which detects that a foreign material is adhered to the inside of the piping by measuring the impedance of the electromechanical conversion element. The foreign material detection unit has: a power supply, which supplies power to the electromechanical conversion element, and vibrates the electromechanical conversion element; a voltage measuring unit that measures an element voltage to be applied to the electromechanical conversion element when the power is supplied from the power supply; a current measuring unit that measures an element current flowing to the electromechanical conversion element when the power is supplied from the power supply; an impedance calculation unit that calculates impedance on the basis of the element voltage and the element current; and a detection unit which detects, on the basis of the impedance calculated by the impedance calculation unit, that a foreign material is adhered to the inside of the piping.
