Abstract:
Provided is a forging method with which it is possible for a product molding space of a die to be completely filled with a metal material and for the metal material to be plastic-worked to obtain a finished shape or semi-finished shape of a metal product using a low load, even if the product has a complex shape, and with which it is possible to reduce the amount of energy required for processing as far as possible and to reduce plant costs such as maintenance after installation, and which is capable of molding and mass producing a metal product which has high strength and high toughness, with a high degree of accuracy. This method of forging a metal material, in which the metal material is clamped between a first punch disposed slidably in a first frame and a second punch disposed slidably in a second frame, and in which molding is performed by filling a product molding space of a die, formed by the first frame and the second frame, with the metal material by causing the first punch and the second punch to advance toward the product molding space, is configured in such a way that the die is brought to a half-open state, and the first and/or second frame is caused to perform a closing action, concomitant with the advancing of the first and second punches, at a speed lower than the speed at which the first and second punches advance, until the die is in a completely closed state.
