Abstract:
A forging method capable of transferring a workpiece with good positional accuracy. A forging method configured in such a manner that, when a pair of feed bars (41) arranged on both sides of a conveying line is closed, a workpiece (W) provided at a workpiece loading section (50) is sandwiched and held from both sides of the workpiece by a pair of claws (42) provided to the feed bars (41), the workpiece (W) is transferred to a workpiece processing section by opening the feed bars (41) after advancing the feed bars (41) along the conveying line with the workpiece (W) sandwiched and held, and the workpiece (W) transferred to the workpiece processing section is forged.  In the method, the workpiece (W) is previously provided with an engaging section (85) and the claws (42) are previously provided with engaging-section receiving sections (45).  This allows, when the workpiece (W) is sandwiched and held by the claws (42), the workpiece (W) to be positioned by engaging the engaging section (85) with the engaging-section receiving section (45).
