Abstract:
A formed cutter (1) comprises, at the tip side, a cutting blade section (2) whereon helical teeth (6) and helical grooves (8) are alternately formed. The cutting blade section (2) rotates centering on a rotation axis (O), thereby performing cutting. This formed cutter (1) is manufactured by performing a process wherein crest sections (6A) and trough sections (6B), which have different diameters, are formed into a cutting blade member (12) along the rotation axis (O); a process wherein helical grooves (8) are formed in the cutting blade member (12); and a process wherein while a cutting tool (18) is rotated around the shaft center thereof, the cutting tool (18) is brought into line contact with the sidewalls of the helical grooves (8) along the depth direction of the helical grooves (8), resulting in rake faces (4) being formed on the sidewalls of the helical grooves (8).
