Abstract:
Disclosed is a forward osmosis device, wherein concentration polarization that occurs in the forward osmosis membrane is minimized, improving the membrane strength of the forward osmosis membrane. The forward osmosis device uses a forward osmosis membrane, which is a semi-permeable membrane supported by a mesh, and is characterised by fulfilment of Z ≤ 0.09 · X/Y in formula 1, X ≤ 1000 in formula 2 and Y ≤ 500 in formula 3. (In the formulas, X represents the thickness (nm) of the semi-permeable membrane, Y represents the gap diameter (µm) of the mesh and Z represents the inter-membrane pressure (MPa) of the forward osmosis membrane.)
