Abstract:
Provided is a freezing apparatus that, even in the event of a refrigerant leak taking place during a defrosting operation of a utilization-side heat exchanger, is able to minimize the amount of leakage. In the case where the situation of refrigerant leakage in the surrounding environment of a utilization-side heat exchanger (52) fulfills a prescribed leakage condition when a defrosting operation is executed while the connection state of a four-way switching valve (22) is set to a defrosting connection state so as to allow a heat source-side heat exchanger (23) to function as an evaporator of a refrigerant and simultaneously allow the utilization-side heat exchanger (52) to function as a heat radiator of the refrigerant, a controller (70) performs density reduction control so as to reduce the density of the refrigerant in the utilization-side heat exchanger (52) while keeping the switching valve in the defrosting connection state.
