Title:
FREQUENCY MIXER FOR SELECTIVELY SUPPORTING SUB-HARMONIC MODE AND DOUBLE-BALANCED MODE ACCORDING TO DIGITAL CONTROL SIGNAL
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2020/235771
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a frequency mixer in which a single frequency mixing unit which consists of switch elements, basically operates as a sub-harmonic mixer, and then operates as a double-balanced mixer by applying a DC voltage to some switch elements or changing a phase of a local oscillation signal input to a switch element. The present invention introduces a frequency mixer which uses a fixed LO frequency and selectively performs, on the basis of the same hardware, operations of a sub-harmonic mixer for converting a 2*LO frequency and a double-balanced mixer for converting an LO frequency, thereby omitting a settlement time of a phase-locked loop (PLL) to have a fast spectrum analysis time and reducing a frequency channel path to reduce the complexity of a receiver. In addition, the present invention can solve an RF feedthrough problem occurring due to odd harmonic waves of the LO frequency in the frequency mixer which consists of two stages and selectively supports the sub-harmonic mixer and the double-balanced mixer through a sub-harmonic frequency mixer configured in a single stage parallel form.
