Title:
FREQUENCY SEPARATOR FOR COCHLEA IMPLANT USING PARALLEL-GROWN PIEZOELECTRIC NANOWIRE AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SAME
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2012/153910
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a frequency separator manufactured by parallel-growing on a basilar membrane implant a nanowire having piezoelectric characteristics, for simulating the characteristics of a basilar membrane of a living organism which vibrates to the frequency of a specific sound, and by sealing the basilar membrane implant and fluid in a main body. The present invention provides a parallel-grown nanowire frequency separator in which an electric current electric signal is generated when a transformation occurs to the nanowire due to a mechanical vibration of the fluid when a sound wave vibrates the fluid of the frequency separator, and which has a frequency separating ability wherein the electric signal, according to the frequency of the sound wave, is delivered to an auditory nerve through individual electrodes, delivering information to a brain stem. The present invention provides a frequency separator for a cochlea implant which does not need an internal or an external battery due to self-generation of the piezoelectric nanowire.
