A fresh air handling unit for an air conditioner and a fresh air handling unit control method are provided. The control method comprises the following steps: when a fresh air handling unit operates normally, determining whether a return air temperature sensor of the fresh air handling unit is faulty; if so, turning off an indoor unit valve corresponding to the fresh air handling unit, and maintaining operation of a fan motor; determining whether a supply air temperature sensor of the fresh air handling unit is faulty; and if not, obtaining a supply air temperature of the fresh air handling unit, using the obtained supply air temperature as a new return air temperature, and controlling the fresh air handling unit to operate again. The control method of the present invention solves a problem in which the fresh air handling unit is incapable of operating again when the return air temperature sensor of the fresh air handling unit is faulty, improving user experience in using the air conditioner.
