Abstract:
In an electromagnetic clutch (20), a rotor (30) is provided with a cover part (31b) covering the radially outer end of an armature (40) from the radially outer side. The cover part (31b), the radially outer end (40b) of the armature (40), and a wall (33a) of the rotor (30) sectionalize a discharge passage (90) for discharging an abrasion powder created by abrasion between walls (40a, 33a), the discharge passage being formed into a ring shape centered about a rotating shaft (2a) and opening into a first axial-direction end side. The cover part (31b) is provided with a tapered surface (100) having a shape such that the area of a cross section of the discharge passage (90) orthogonal to the axial center of the rotating shaft (2a) grows larger toward the first axial-direction end side. In the electromagnetic clutch (20), abrasion powder is readily discharged through the discharge passage (90) by centrifugal force.
