Abstract:
This friction drive-type wave transmission is provided with: an annular rigid member (1) having a circular internal peripheral surface; an annular elastic member (2) having an external peripheral surface capable of circumscribing the internal peripheral surface of the annular rigid member (1), the annular elastic member being disposed inside the annular rigid member (1); and a wave generator (3) disposed inside the annular elastic member (2). The wave generator (2) flexes the annular elastic member (2) outward in the radial direction, causes the external peripheral surface of the annular elastic member (2) to make contact with the internal peripheral surface of the annular rigid member (1) in a portion having a plurality of locations in the peripheral direction, and causes the contact parts (2a) thereof to move in the peripheral direction. The external shape of the wave generator (3) is formed so that the contact parts (2a) of the external peripheral surface of the annular elastic member (2) that make contact with the internal peripheral surface of the annular rigid member (1) are circular arc-shaped parts having an outside diameter that is substantially equal to the inside diameter of the internal peripheral surface of the annular rigid member (1).
