Title:
FRICTION JOINING METHOD AND FRICTION JOINED BODY
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2002/058880
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The opposed surfaces of plates (1, 2) are formed with mating surfaces (1A, 2A) and groove faces (1B, 2B), and with their mating surfaces (1A, 2A) butting against each other, the plates (1, 2) are fixed in position. In this state, a padding material (4) is rotated at high speed while being pressed against a groove (3), generating high-temperature friction heat on their friction contact surfaces while moving the padding material (4) along the mating surfaces (1A, 2A) of the plates (1, 2). Part of the lower end of the padding material (4) which has become plastically fluidized is left behind to adhere to the surface of the groove (3) in the plates (1, 2), thereby enlarging the padding in the junction (5) on the surface side of the groove (3), making it possible to increase the strength of the junction between the plates (1, 2).
